Ruhsan Çarpadan was awarded this year’s Seyhan Livaneli Short Story Contest, which was held under the moderation of Ayça Erdura, sponsored by Eksik Parça Yayınları and Gaia Studio. Çarpadan received the award presented by Zülfü Livaneli at the ceremony held on Friday, April 26th at 8:00 p.m. at the Kozyatağı Cultural Center, Gönül Ülkü – Gazanfer Özcan Stage.
The results of the contest, which was organized for the fifth time this year with the theme “Road – Migration” to discover new writers who could breathe new life into the literary world and to commemorate the valuable memory of Seyhan Livaneli, were announced on January 22nd, Seyhan Livaneli’s birthday. The jury consisting of Zülfü Livaneli, Barış İnce, Jale Sancak, Gaye Boralıoğlu, Hakan Akdoğan, Menekşe Toprak, and Zafer Köse selected six candidates as finalists: Ayşe Mehtap Sağocak, Doruk Koç, İpek Sözen, İnan Palancı, Ruhsan Çarpadan, and Nazlı Akın. Following the second round of evaluation among the finalists, the jury decided to award the prize to Ruhsan Çarpadan.
The opening speech of the evening was made by Ayça Erdura, the moderator of the Seyhan Livaneli Short Story Contest. After Erdura’s speech, Ruhsan Çarpadan was awarded the prize by the jury president Zülfü Livaneli. Jale Sancak, one of the jury members, gave a speech evaluating the stories submitted this year. Following the speech by Demet Çaltepe, the editor of Eksik Parça Yayınları and a member of the jury, the gifts and certificates of the 2024 finalists were presented by İdil Ademir, an editor from Eksik Parça Yayınevi. The award ceremony turned into a celebration for literature lovers with a panel titled “Road and Migration” moderated by Zafer Köse and speeches by Barış İnce, Gaye Boralıoğlu, Menekşe Toprak, and Hakan Akdoğan, as well as a musical performance by Ferhat Livaneli, Hasan Doğru, and Jülide Karan.
At the end of the evening, the winner of the 2022 Seyhan Livaneli Short Story Contest, Servet Şan Durukan, and the winner of the 2023 Seyhan Livaneli Short Story Contest, Anıl Çetinel Örselli, signed their books published by Eksik Parça Yayınları.
