212 Photography Istanbul continues to bring together talented photographers from around the globe, offering art enthusiasts an international cultural gathering in Istanbul. Now in its 7th edition, the festival, known for its polyphonic and multidisciplinary approach, places photography at its core while fostering diverse dialogues. As part of this year’s 212 Photography Istanbul, the results of the International 212 Photography Competition have been announced.
Known as the “Festival of the City,” 212 Photography Istanbul offers an exciting exploration route to its visitors with the 2024 program. In addition to photography, the festival incorporates many different disciplines and continues to host prominent names from Turkey and abroad. In its seventh year, the festival is taking firm steps toward establishing a sustainable tradition in art and culture. The festival takes place across various venues in Istanbul from September 28 to October 13.
The grand prize winner of the 212 Photography Competition, held as part of the festival, was Cinzia Laliscia, who took home the top award of €5,000. The jury’s special prize, a Xiaomi 14T phone, was awarded to the competition’s second-place winner, Vladimir Khorev.
The competition, open to photographers of all ages and nationalities, both amateur and professional, was judged by prominent figures from the world of photography and design. Among those on the jury were Maja Dyrehauge Gregersen, General Manager of the Copenhagen Photo Festival; Sandrine Hermand Grisel, a photographer and founder of All About Photo; photographer James Kerwin; Laura Sackett, Partner and Creative Director of LensCulture; and Oğuz Karakütük, co-founder and director of Ka Atelier.
212 Photography Competition: Final 11 Announced
The International 212 Photography Competition, aimed at discovering the next generation of photographic talent and providing a platform for their voices, received great interest both domestically and internationally this year. The final 11 photographers include Cansu Yıldıran, Irina Vovk, Atsushi Momoi, Bekir Dindar, Cinzia Laliscia, David Lombeida, Hyunmin Ryu, Jonathan Jasberg, Kıvılcım S. Güngörün, Sanaz Khosravi, and Vladimir Khorev.
Examples of the work submitted by the final 11 contestants will be on display at Akaretler 37-3 during the 212 Photography Istanbul exhibition, held from September 28 to October 13.
