2nd International Turkish Culture Symposium Held in Keçiören

The 2nd International Turkish Culture Symposium was organized in collaboration with the Keçiören Municipality, the Turkish Culture Research Institute, and the Yunus Emre Institute, with support from Gazi University and TIKA. The event took place at the Yunus Emre Cultural Center and began with a moment of silence followed by the National Anthem.

Dr. Mesut Özarslan

Keçiören Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan expressed his pleasure in hosting the symposium, stating, “Turkish culture is a treasure that carries the traces of a deep-rooted civilization, flowing from the depths of history. We are responsible for passing this heritage on to future generations in the most accurate way. Throughout history, the Turkish nation has interacted with many civilizations and established states in different geographies, leaving deep marks. This journey, extending from the endless steppes of Central Asia to the fertile lands of our Anatolia, has enriched and diversified our culture.”

Patriotism at the Core of Turkish Culture

Mayor Özarslan emphasized that the essence of Turkish culture lies in patriotism and the spirit of independence. He stated, “At the heart of Turkish culture are the values of love for the homeland, the passion for independence, tolerance, justice, and solidarity. These values have guided us for thousands of years. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk emphasized that the Turkish nation should take pride not only in its own history but also in its contributions to world civilization. Today, preserving and developing Turkish culture is not just a debt of gratitude to our past; it is the most important investment we can make for our future. The first step in protecting our culture starts with embracing our language. How happy is the one who says ‘I am a Turk!'” he concluded.
