Azerbaijan’s deep-rooted musical tradition of mugham met art lovers in Ankara through the performances of master musicians. Organized at Ankara Music and Fine Arts University, “Mugham Days” began with a special concert held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the foyer area of the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts Education. Mugham, regarded as one of the most significant pillars of Azerbaijani music, offered the audience unforgettable moments through the interpretations of distinguished performers.
The concert featured vocalist Teyyar Bayramov, tar musician Reşad İbrahimov, kamancha performer Tebriz Yusubov, and naghara artist Vüsal Bayramov. The artists performed distinguished selections from the traditional mugham repertoire, bringing the depth and richness of Azerbaijani music to Ankara.
Among the attendees were Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Özden, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Ankara Dr. Fuzuli Macidli, along with numerous invited guests and art enthusiasts.
Rooted in the concept of “maqam” and forming the foundation of Azerbaijani musical culture, mugham is known as a rich musical tradition that combines improvisation with structured musical rules. In this sense, mugham is regarded not only as a musical genre but also as an important cultural heritage.
The “Mugham Days” event once again highlighted the strong cultural ties and friendship between Türkiye and Azerbaijan while further strengthening the artistic bridge between the two countries.
