Ali Şîr Nevaî Will Live On in Keçiören


In order to support the efforts of Başkent University’s Ali Şîr Nevaî Research and Application Center, the Keçiören Municipality inaugurated a monument dedicated to the famous Uzbek poet and statesman Ali Şîr Nevaî in Gümüşdere Ihlamur Valley, located in the district. The opening ceremony was attended by many distinguished guests, including the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Ankara, Alisher Azamhocayev, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Vice President Çağdaş Sarıaslan, Keçiören Municipality Vice Presidents Selçuk Karadağ, Atila Zorlu, Emir Can Tunç, and various other invitees.

Expressing their honor and happiness in unveiling the Ali Şîr Nevaî Monument, Keçiören Municipality Deputy Mayor Selçuk Karadağ said, “As Keçiören Municipality, we take great pride in inaugurating this meaningful monument to honor this great son of the Turkic world and to pass on his cultural heritage to future generations. Ali Şîr Nevaî is not only a cherished figure of the Uzbek people but also a shared value of the entire Turkic world. His poems, works, and statesmanship have made a lasting mark on the history of the Turkish nation, greatly contributing to the enrichment of our languages and culture. The bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Uzbekistan have grown even stronger. This monument will stand in Keçiören as an eternal symbol of the cultural ties and shared heritage between our two nations.”

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Ankara, Alisher Azamhocayev, expressed that Ali Şîr Nevaî holds great importance for them, stating, “I would like to thank those who contributed to the construction of this monument. I extend my gratitude to Keçiören Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan for his contributions to the continuation of this project.”
