New Composition by Pianist Kiann: Woman – Life – Freedom

Given the latest circumstances in the past three month in Iran, Kiann, Iranian-Italian composer and Pianist, who has given a number of successful concerts this year in Turkey, dedicated a beautiful composition to the revolution of the folk in Iran which started as women’s freedom movement.

Kiann, who resides in Vienna, recorded this composition with his friend and star violinist Yury Revich, who is also known for his engagements for human rights. The two have already collaborated in the past.

Kiann is convinced, that every voice counts and this is his way of making a contribution. The song is called “Woman, Life, Freedom”. This is the slogan that became popular as a response to the death of the 22-year-old Iranian woman “Mahsa Amini”, who died in a hospital in Tehran, short after being arrested and beaten by the morality police for allegedly not wearing the hijab in accordance with government standards.

The music video shows a magnificent modern dance, created by a young talented Austrian choreographer and dancer, which demonstrates the desire of the young women to have their own choice over their body and clothing. It’s the choice that has been denied to the Iranian women in the last 42 years. It also gives message of hope, that there is a bright tomorrow awaiting.

Kiann, who gave a concert in Istanbul last October, dedicated his work “Fredoom” to Mahsa Amini and all the women in Iran in his concert.
