One of Turkey’s young talents in music, 12-year-old pianist Sabina Ela Demir has brought home a remarkable achievement from Italy. At the prestigious Orbetello International Piano Competition in Tuscany, she earned third prize in her age category, standing out among young pianists from around the world. Known for its rigorous three-round format, the competition gathers gifted musicians on an international stage and challenges them to perform from memory before a distinguished jury.
Shortly after, Sabina continued her steady rise by securing third prize at the IPC Piano Competition in Turkey, further affirming her growing presence on the music scene.
A Promising Musical Journey
Sabina has already appeared in highly regarded platforms such as the Young Stars Music Festival, Mozart Academy Piano Festival, ADS International Gülsin Onay Piano Festival, Pera Music Festival, and the Alkanova Music Competition. Since 2021, she has studied piano under Simla Somuncu Özbudak and recently deepened her artistic journey by joining a masterclass with world-renowned pianist Prof. Giuliano Adorno.
Beyond the Piano: A Multi-Faceted Talent
Sabina’s creativity is not confined to music. She is also a licensed fencer, competing in national and international tournaments. Her passion for the visual arts has led her to explore painting and sculpture and even to take her first steps as an art collector. Recently, she acquired works from ANQI’s (Melek Anqi) “Hiromita” series, marking the beginning of this new artistic pursuit.
Art with a Social Conscience
For Sabina, art is more than personal expression—it is also a means of raising awareness. She participated in an exhibition at the Beşiktaş Naval Museum organized by painter Tülin Kanun, where her works highlighted the importance of animal rights. Even at a young age, she is committed to contributing to social responsibility projects.
